Following on from yesterday, Ukraine continues to retreat around Ocheretyne, as its troops struggle to contain the situation and pull back to avoid being cut off. As mentioned previously, Ukrainian forces in Keramik and Novokalynove were under threat of encirclement from the Russian advances out of Ocheretyne and along the eastern hills of Novokalynove. I said that they were almost certainly going to retreat due to the risk of encirclement, which has now been shown to be true, as Ukrainian forces have all but abandoned Novokalynove and Kermik, pulling back towards Arkhanhelske, Kalynove, and the various rivers and reservoirs to the north. Russia will likely continue to advance north, chasing the retreating Ukrainian units.
Further south, with the collapse of Ukrainian lines around the rivers, Russia continues to advance west, taking over the remaining buildings on the very outskirts of Berdychi. Whilst they were claims that some Ukrainian units got encircled here and surrendered, there has yet to be any confirmation or evidence to back it up. If it were to be true, this would be devastating for Ukraine, as they are already severely short on manpower in this area and need these troops to help defend the new lines.
