Russia's advance in Krasnogorivka continues for another day. I have to admit that I have been caught off-guard by Russia's actions here. Previously I said that Russia would likely try launch an assault of the buildings north of the river from the eastern side, as trying to attack over the river would be very difficult.
Russian assault troops have proven today that it was possible, and have managed to cross the river and marsh area, and established a small foothold on the northern side. This opens up the way for a much quicker end to the Krasnogorivka campaign, as it will be relatively easy to capture the remaining residential area after crossing the last major barrier (the river). This crossing was likely made possible due to the defending Ukrainian units having lost too many soldiers during their retreat from the town, or because they are giving up that area entirely.
Ukrainian sources talk about poor conditions of the brigades here, and impossible orders given to their commanders. The Ukrainian 59th Mech and 80th Air assault brigades, who were fighting in Krasnogorivka, have had several articles written about the issues they are facing, and complaints made by the soldiers, but as always, getting an exact read of their situation is difficult.
In the south of Krasnogorivka, Ukrainian forces retreated from their small foothold again, as I mentioned in a previous update. Russian forces have not yet entered this area, but will likely recapture it in the next few days.
